Food and feeding habits and fecundity of Mystus vittatus (Bloch) were studied. The fish was mainly plankton feeder with preference for zooplankton and fed mainly on copepods, cladocerans, rotifers, ostracods, insects, oligochaetes, chlorophyceae, bascillariophyceae and debris. Fecundity of the fish with the length between 89 and 115 mm was found to range from 2515 to 9789. The values for fecundity total length, fecundity-body-weight, and fecundity-ovary weight were 0.4007, 0.5817 and 0.9759 respectively. The fecundity was found to bear linear relationship with total length, body weight and ovary weight.
