Effect of four different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers on the growth and yield of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) on the coastal plains
1986
Goring, E.C.M. (National Agricultural Research Inst., Demerara (Guyana))
An experiment to determine the response of cotton to fertilizer was conducted on a typical Ochraqunlts, Onverwagt clay. Effects of 4 different levels of nitrogen (N) as urea, 61, 122, 183 and 244 kg/ha were compared to 4 levels of phosphorus (P) as triple superphosphate 65, 136, 195 and 260 kg/ha. Seed cotton yield increased as the level of nitrogen and phosphorus increased. Thus a yield of 639 kg/ha was favoured by N as urea at 122, 193 or 244 kg/ha and P as triple superphosphate at 130, 195 or 260 kg/ha
