Evaluation of three fungicides on blast disease
1970
Khan, M.S. (Ministry of Nat'l Dev. and Agric. (Guyana). Res. Div.)
On 18 ft x 10 ft plots, replicated twice, benlate, hinosan and verdasan at 3, 2 and 2 concentrations respectively were used at seedling, post-tillering and pre-flowering stages. Leaf infection counts were done at random. Benlate at the lowest and highest rates was very effective. Hinosan and verdasan gave better control as the plants got older. In another experiment, benlate, as a systemic, used on pre-germinated seeds effectively arrested the spread of blast. Seeds were soaked and before germination 7 ozs/140 lbs padi were dusted on the wet seeds. Benlate treated seeds gave 70 % control of both leaf and neck infection
