The author provides a short survey on the consumption of canned food, its processing industry and the relative internal trade in the USA and in Canada. The canned food production in the USA and in Canada is characterized by high quality and an endeavor for healthy nutrition. The most strict food standards of the world are in the USA and these obviously not only concern the internal production but also the import products. Canada in several cases follows the USA and also has similar instructions in respect of the requirement in food production. To get into these markets not only means the competition with the internal production of the USA in respect of packing of high level and of attractive appearance but the quality of foods must meet the most strict plant-, animal and human health requirements of the world. Apart from the above, in order to get into the market and to improve sales a successful advertizing and marketing activity and several other conditions have to be met at the same time.
