Analysis and evaluation of thirty Iraqi date cultivars

The evaluation covered a through investigation of fruit quality with regard to fresh weight, seed and pulp weight, volume, length, diameter, as well as determining the content of moisture, total soluble solids, reducing and nonreducing sugars. Differences in fruit characteristics were observed among the cultivars under investigation. Maktoom cultivar leads in fruit volume and ratio of pulp/seed, whereas the cultivars Anbarie, Mayhe and Barben cultivars showed favoured in connection with moisture content, while they contain the least percentage of total sugars, reducing and nonreducing sugars among the studied cultivars
