With the exception of Hamedan region of Iran, a potato wilt disease was found in most potato growing areas of the country. The most conspicuous disease symptoms were rapid green wilt of the foliage and discoloration of the tuber vascular system. To determine the etiology of the disease the milky exudate from the stem or the tuber vascular ring of the diseased plants was cultured on TZC agar medium. The infecting organism was found to be Gram negative rod- shaped bacterium, which produced white irregularly round colonies with pink centers on the medium
