Effect of rootstock, scion cultivar, indolbutyric acid on the rooting and callusing of grape grafts

Dormant hardwood cuttings of two grape rootstocks P-1103 and 41-B, were benchgrafted for two successive seasons with three local table grape cultivars, Darawishi, Salti and Zeini. The basal ends of the grafts were treated separately for 12 hours with indolbutyric acid (IBA) or naphthalenaecetic acid (NAA), at 0, 50, 100, 200 and 400 ppm. The rootstock P-1103 gave significantly higher numbers of rooted grafts and higher average number of roots per graft. However, healing of the graftunion was not significantly affected. On the other hand, the rootstock 41-B gave the lowest number of rooted grafts and the lowest average number of roots per graft. Moreover, 41-B remained without any significant effect upon healing of the graftunion in both seasons. The scion cultivar had a little effect on the number of rooted grafts, average number of roots per graft, and healing the graftunion in both seasons. IBA and NAA treatments increased the number of rooted grafts and the average number of roots per graft; treatment of the basal portion of the graft with IBA and NAA did not affect healing of the graftunion in both experimental seasons
