The total cost of materials used in the construction of the machine was P624.10. The machine had a total weight of 20 kg., a maximum spray load of 20 liters, and a nozzle discharge of 1.25 liters per minute at 20 psi pressure. The machine was tested using three different field crops: namely, rice, peanut and sweet potato, and one orchard crop, mango. Three trials were made for each crop. The results of the performance test showed that the highest theoretical and effective field capacities were obtained in spraying a 250 sq.m. area of sweet potato with values of 0.255 and 0.225 ha/hr, respectively. On the other hand, the highest average machine efficiency was obtained in spraying mango trees with value of 91.1 percent. It was also gathered that the sprayer can spray a hectare of rice, peanut, sweet potato and mango trees within 5.18, 4.72, 4.44 and 21.74 hours of continuous operation, respectively. The application rates were 97.13, 88.5, 83.25, and 407.63 gal/ha for the same crops, respectively. Although minor problems such as leakage of spray solution and difficulty in pumping were encountered, the efficiency of the machine was comparable to the typical efficiency range of sprayers (55-85 percent), as reported in the literature.
