Morpho-anatomical studies were done on plants of sinaw-sinaw (Peperomia pellucida) to determine the presence of active principles through histochemical tests. Cells composing the stems and roots are of similar types but they differ in the number of vascular bundles. The roots have two vascular bundles arranged opposite to each other. Young stems have two to five concentric vascular bundles while the number of vascular bundles in the mature stems ranges from eight to ten. Through histochemical tests, the roots, leaves and stems of the plants are observed to contain fats and oils, a little of oxalic acid, alkaloid, tannin and arbutin.
