Relationship between ovulation rate and embryo survival rate in young gilts

Crossbred gilts from two industrial farms were inseminated twice at the 8 months of age with mixed semen of Polish Large White boars. In the 28 day of pregnancy the gilts were killed and number of yellow bodies and of embryos were defined. Correlation coefficients between the number of yellow bodies and number of embryos and between number of yellow bodies and embryo survival rate were r=0.67 and r=0.01, resp.
