Influence of sowing mechanisms on injuries and germination of cereal grain

The negative influence of grove and pin sowing mechanisms of drilling machines on germination of tested cereals has been proved. Stresses occurring in grain during the processes of sowing were found to be responsible for cracks and microcracks in grains, which lowered germination ability of grain. The authors advised to perform similar tests with winter cereals and other grain susceptible to mechanical injuries
