Blood contents of catecholamines and cortisol in piglets under different stress conditions induced by industrial breeding technology

A significant increase in blood contents of adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol was observed in 3-day-old piglets kept at 18 degrees C for 3 h. The separation of the piglets from their mothers for 3 h had no effect on the hormones examined. Weaning, transport and formation of new technological groups were found to be stressing for piglets 28 days of age
