Inheritance of seed coat weight in faba bean (Vicia faba L.)

Statistical analysis of specific seed coat weight in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) revealed that the character was under the control of both additive and non-additive gene actions. Somaly and Balady (Local) showed significant GCA effects for lower seed coat weight. In both the parents and the F1 hybrids, there was a small positive correlation between seed coat weight and both seed weight and pod width, but it was not significant
