Of 43 cowpea varieties screened at field trials in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, the varieties EW/1, ER-7, BPL-3-1, TVx 3236 O/G, TVu 2994 and TVu 3709 showed promising levels of resistance to the pest. There were significant differences amongst the varieties with respect to the parameters: overall percentage of seeds damaged and percentage of seeds damaged in infested pods
