Additional fertilization of wheat with nitrogen in the phase of flower formation and earing with previous fertilization carried out before sowing and before spring using 100 kg of N/ha had no effect upon the yield of dry matter but it increased the nitrogen content in the above-ground part and influenced nitrogen distribution among some plant organs. Organs which were responsible for the formation of grains, top leaves and ear provide an adequate nitrogen content from other organs. Changes in the nitrogen content in 3 top leaves were similar to changes in the above-ground part. Therefore, it could be concluded that the nitrogen content in 3 top leaves during flowering could serve as an indicator of nitrogen supply.
