Production and technological properties of winter cultivars of barley

Ten winter varieties of feed and brewer's barley have been investigated. The Gruzanin variety has had the highest yield, followed by Partizan and NS-27. Many-rowed varieties have had higher yields than the two-rowed ones and Yugoslav varieties have had higher yields than foreign ones. The two-rowed brewer's varieties have had a higher content of first class seeds, higher absolute and hectolitre weight of seeds and a higher extract content than the many-rowed feed varieties.The protein content percentage in the seeds of the brewer's varieties was somewhat higher than that in the feed varieties.
