Environmental stress results in the accumulation of polyamine in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
1989
Ghosh, Bharati
Environmental stress results in the accumulation of polyamine. Environmental stress condition produces characteristics metabolic changes during which polyamine accumulates at high concentration and the activity of arginine decarboxylase (ADC) increases to a great extent. Maximum polyamine (PA) level and ADC activity was at 42(o)C in coleoptile and 47(o)C in root. Similar increase in PA content and ADC activity was observed in saline stress. In case of putrescine increase in 100%. ADC activity is maximum in root and coleoptile at 30mM and 100mM concentration.
