The experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jamalpur in rabi, 1986-87 with a view to evaluate the interaction status between variety and nitrogen fertilizer. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design, main-plot with 4 varieties (Sonalika. kanchan, Akbar Aghrani) and sub-plot with 4 levels of nitrogen (0.30,60 and 90 kg/ha). It was observed that application of nitrogen at the rate of 60 and 90 kg/ha produced same effect over all the varieties. Particularly Aghrani and Kanchan were found responsive to higher doses of nitrogen and they kept on increasing in yield with the increase of nitrogen. But Akbar showed positive response upto nitrogen application at the rate of 60 kg/ha. It reduced in yield when nitrogen dose was increased upto 90 kg/ha.
