Effect of split application of elemental sulphur on the productivity of sugarcane [in Bangladesh]

An experiment with variable levels of elemental sulphur, viz. 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 kg per hectare applied all at the time of planting and in two splits, half at planting and the rest at 120 days of planting along with top dressed nitrogen and potash was conducted at the Bangladesh Sugarcane Research and Training Institute Farm during 1980-87 crop year. Highest no. of germination, no. of tillers/ha, no. of millable cane/ha, ton cane/ha and ton sugar/ha was obtained with 50 kg elemental sulphur applied in two splits.
