The use of (18)O/(16)O and (2)H/(1)H ratios of water in studying river run-off
1989
Mook, W.J.
In nature variations occur in the (18)O/(16)O and (2)H/(1)H (stable oxygen and hydrogen) isotopic ratio of waters of various origins and pathways. Relatively simple models can explain that (18)O/(16)O and (2)H/(1)H differences are observed between different storms, seasons and locations. This project requires regular sampling of small quantities of river water and precipitation. (18)O/(16)O and (2)H/(1)H studies may also serve for hydrography separation, i.e. the reaction rate of surface run-off to rainfall.
