[Importance of poaching in the Dja wildlife reserve [Cameroon]]
1989
Nkomo, E.
This work deals with poaching in the Dja game reserve. Subsistence poaching is carried out by 63% of the population whilst 37% carry out commercial poaching. A less obvious form of poaching being carried out by administrative, political and military authorities together with the commercial poaching truly threatens the wildlife. Hunting is carried out by the use of both traps and firearms. Small animals are the most hunted whilst buffalos and panthers are hunted the least. To combat poaching the government has to take such steps as educating the people and creating a National Authority to fight against poaching
