Physiological studies on Chrysanthemum morifolium, ram. 2.-Effects of cycocel, gibberellic acid and nucleic acid on flowering and inflorescence characters [Egypt]

This study was carried out at the Ornamental Farm, Univeristy of Suez Canal at Ismailia, during 1984 and 1985. This study aimed at changing the time of flowering in order to have more opportunity for better marketing, depending on the use of some chemical treatments. On this ground, a specific concentration of GA3 (100 ppm) as spray, CCC (5000 ppm). as spray or soil drench, and nucleic acids (NAs) freshly extracted from Zinnia elegans at flowering stage and dissolved in saline solution (to give a concentration of 50 ug/ml) were applied on 3 rd and 23 rd of August in the two seasons. The most important results were: -NAs and GA3 produced earlier flowering, but CCC as soil drench delayed flowering. - CCC applied as soil drench was the best treatment which produced sturdy and thick flower stems. This treatment also can be recommended for application after GA3 treatment since it improves the quality of Chrysanthemum inflorescence. GA3 or NAs has great effects on increasing the number of the inflorescence stem.
