Seed crop of okra (Hibiscus esculentus) and associated weeds, as affected by different herbicides [Egypt]

This work, was carried out during two successive summer seasons (1986 and 1987), at Sabahia Horticultural Research Station to study the effect of different rates of cotoran 80%, stomp 33.5% and their combination as well as hand weeding on weed control and seed production in Okra. Most of herbicidal treatments depressed significantly weed number and dry weight of broadleaf and grassy weeds in okra crop. The reduction in weed growth varried according to the herbicide used as well as rate of application. The highest killing effect was achieved by cotoran 80% at 15 kg/ Feddan, Stomp 55.5% at 3.75 L./Feddan. and the combination of cotoran at 1.0 kg./fed + stomp at 2.5 L./fed. The best application of weed control on seed production in okra is stomp at 33.5% L./fed. and the combination of cotoran 80% at 1.0 kg./fed + stomp 33.5% at 2.5 L./feddan.
