The response of four wheat cultivars to Nitrogen and Fetrilon Combi fertilization [Egypt]

Two field experiments were performed in 1983/84 and 1984/85 growing seasons at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Zagazig University to investigate the differential response of four wheat cultivars (Sakha 8, Sakha 61, Sakha 69 and Giza 160) to N fertilization (25, 50 and kg N/fad) and foliar fertilization with Fetrilon Combi. Design was strip-split plot with 4 replication where the cultivars, N-levels and foliar application with Fetrilon Combi were assigned to main, sub-plots, respectively. Results showed that Sakha 8 cultivar had higher number of grains/ spike with lighter grains as compared with other cultivars. Wheat cultivars responded significantly to 50 kg N/fad. and gave more spike length, grain number/ spike, 1000-grain weight and more grain and straw yields/ fad. when compared with 25 kg N level/ fad., whereads 75 kg N/ fad. increased only spike number/ m2. Foliar application of Fetrilon Combi had no effect on grain yield and its attributes.
