The experiments were conducted during nili seasons of 1983/1984 and 1984/1985 to study the effect of NPK levels and ratios and their interaction on growth, yield, tuber quality and chemical composition of potato plants grown in sandy loam soil. Three NPK levels of 100, 200 and 300 kg/fed at six ratios of 1:1:1, 1:2:3, 2:1:2: and 2:1:3 were tested. Growth and yield parameters as well as the concentration of macronutrients (N, P and K) and plastid pigments (Chl.a, Chl.b and Carot.) were increased by increasing NPK levels up to the highest level of 300 kg NPK/fed. However, the tuber number/ plant, carotenoids content and the tuber quality were not significantly affected by the different NPK levels.
