Effect of insecticide cyolane (Phospholan) on some soil fungi isolated from Zagazig area [Egypt]

The most common fungi isolated from Zagazig area (Cultivated land) were identified as Aspargillus niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus and Fusarium sp. Rhizoctonia solani was isolated from infected roots of cotton seedlings from the same area. Cyolane suppressed the growth of all tasted fungi, especially at higher concentrations (300, 400, and 500 ppm) The highest toxicity was obtained against Rhizoctonia solani in presence of any nitrogen source in culture medium. Cyolane was more toxic to A. niger, A. flavus and A. fumigatus in presence of sodium nitrate rather than ammonium sulphate. Higher toxicity was obtained in presence of ammonium sulphate in case of Fusarium sp. The lowest concentration of cyolane (100 ppm) stimulated the growth of A. niger and A. flavus under certain experimental conditions. The polysaccaride content of mats for all tested fungi gradually decreased by increasing the concentration of cyolane in the medium from 200 ppm up to 500 ppm in presence of any type of nitrogen. It also resulted in significant reduction of total lipids in mats of all tested fungi. On the other hand, cyolane presence with any nitrogen source had not significant affect on protein-N content of mats of all tested fungi.
