Efficacy of carbofuran field application on the rice root nematode, Hirschmanniella oryzae and rice yield in Nothern Nile Delta [Egypt]

During the normal crop season, the rates of 0.9, 0.6 and 0.3 kg. a.i. carbouran/ feddan were applied before or after soil wet levelling. Treatments resulted in decreasing the rice root nematode population, increasing the rice grain yield at 0.9 kg/fed. and improving the plant growth only in case of the low doses of pre-wet-levelling application. The same doses of carbofuran applied after wet-levelling of the soil increased significantly rice grain yield over that of the untreated check for Giza 173 cultivar.
