The major determinants of food prices and their implications in Ghana are examined. Food imports have inverse relationship with food prices but total money supply and domestic food supply have a positive relationship. To attain food security, the government has to reconsider prices received by local producers, reduce food imports (since this depresses producer prices) and encourage local producers to increase production
