Physicochemical property and immunlogical identity were investigated from yolk protein of Galleria mellonella L. Yolk protein appears as a major band in upper part of gel and to be present in the both male and female haemolymph of pupae on polyacrylamide gel. Molecular weight of this protein was esimated to be 400 Kd and its pI value was determined to be pH 6.68. Yolk protein is composed of two types of subunit with molecular weights of 36 Kd and 160 Kd. This protein was confirmed to be conjugated protein containing carbohydrate, lipid, and phosphorus. In immunological test, yolk protein is confirmed in the fat body and haemolymph of 7-day-old female pupae but not in the haemolymph of 7-day-old male pupae, indicating that vitellogenin is not present in male haemolymph
