This study was carried out to investigate the incidence of peanut pod rot and yield according to different cultivation methods of peanut, and effect of soil moisture on the incidence of peanut pod rot. Soil moisture content and density of Pythium sp. in the soil of vinyl mulching plots were higher than non-mulching plots. Due to this reason the incidence of peanut pod rot in vinyl mulching plots was higher than non-mulching plots, but the yield was higher in vinyl mulching plots than non-mulching. In the pot experiment, the incidence of peanut pod rot increased more with heavy soil moisture treatment than non-treatment. In the vinyl mulching cultivation of peanut, the incidence of peanut pod rot decreased with removal of vinyl at the flowering stage, and peanut yield was higher in vinyl removed plots
