Field performance of tissue culture derived banana plants

Three culture-derived plants cvs Lakatan, Bungulan and Saba were compared to sucker-derived plants. These produced significantly more suckers than sucker-derived plants. The number of days to flowering was 8, 59 and 101 days earlier for tissue culture-derived Saba, Bungulan and Lakatan, respectively, than sucker-derived plants. Plant height and pseudostem circumference were not significantly different with the two planting materials at all stages of growth.
