Fusarium and Verticillium wilts are two of the most serious diseases of cotton, which exist along the coast of the Yangtze river. About 20-40% of the potential output is lost due to cotton diseases and insects in Jiangsu every year. There are three pathogenetic strain types of Fusarium oxysporum, F. vasinfectum and Verticillium dahliae in Jiangsu. Studies had been conducted to determine the range of host plant of cotton Fusarium and Verticillium wilt pathogens, and to synthesize an integrated control technique of the two diseases, which included technical method of thoroughly disinfecting seeds, and the use of resistant varieties. These two diseases are now being controlled in Jiangsu province [China]
