Overview of the livestock sector in Thailand with special reference to buffalo and cattle

This paper provides an overview of the livestock sector and attempts to explain variations in the aggregate stocks of live animals, the domestic consumption of beef, and the exports of live animals through variations in prices, incomes, and other relevant variables. Because of its preliminary nature the study concludes with remarks anticipating policy implications to emerge from a more thorough study now under way.
