Cowpea seed required 18 days after blooming to reach physiological maturity. It contained 34.69% moisture content and 4.61 gm/seed dry weight. Seed at physiological maturity had 90.00% germination with highest vigor in terms of speed of germination, seedling dry weight, root and shoot length. The cowpea had low pod set of about 31.5% and required 35 days from planting to flowering. Its seed deteriorated rapidly after maturation. under field condition.
