In this study, it was established that the duration of embryonal development of Sitotroga cerealella Oliv. depends on the temperature and degree of air humidity and that it fluctuates greatly. Postembryonal development of caterpillars lasts longer on coarse grained wheat and maize varieties. All of the tested plants do not provide identical conditions for the development and survival of S. cerealella. The survival rate is higher on the PKB-coarse (60.60%) wheat variety than on the Novosadska early 1 (53.98%), while for maize, the survival rate of caterpillars was the highest on the ZP. Sc 704 maize variety (63.80%).
