Disc method of transformation of tobacco by modified Ti plasmid

A transfer of the gene for kanamycin resistance has been carried out from Agrobacterium tumefaciens to Nicotiana plumbaginifolia tobacco. The modified Ti-plasmid, pGA471 was used as a vector. The efficiency of the transformation was 77.14%. Shoots of the transformed calli formed a root in 13-21 days. Transgenic plants are morphologically normal.
