[The effect of the method and period of primary and pre-sowing cultivation of soil on some physical properties of chernozem, weediness, dynamics of growth, sugarbeet yield and quality]

Subotic, B.T.
This is a three-year study of the effect that the method of basic and surface tillage, and tillage time, have on some physical characteristics of land, weediness, sugarbeet yield and quality, and on chernozem of a somewhat heavier mechanical composition than normally. The results confirm earlier studies which established that the most suitable method of basic tillage in arid and semi-arid districts, is the one based on basing and renewing of plough-fields at a depth of 40+-5 cm. Under the test conditions, it is useful to do the levelling with a plain roller, at 25 cm., after tilling. High and relatively stable production can be accomplished by sowing genetically one-sprouted seeds with a set distance in rows and specific tilling.
