The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of urea treated and untreated rice straw on milk quality. For this purpose 10 indigenous Pabna cows in their mid stage of lactation were divided into two similar groups on the basis of their body weight and milk yield. Cows on each group received either treated or untreated rice straw ad libitum together with same amount of green grass and concentrated feeds. Milk samples were collected from all cows individually once in a week for analysis during the 91 days experimental period. Specific gravity, water, fat, protein, lactose, ash, total solids and solids-net-fat content in both types of milk were determined to monitor its quality. It was found that there was no significant effect of urea treated rice straw on specific gravity and lactose content of milk from treated group were significantly higher (p0.01) than that of the milk obtained from untreated group. Water per cent in the milk of treated group was significantly lower (P0.05) than the milk from untreated group. It was concluded that urea treated rice straw increases the quality of milk.
