Sunderbans, the world's largest tidal delta spreads over Bangladesh and India for centuries. Recently the ecosystem of Sunderbans has become vulnerable. There are several reasons which inter-alia include a very specialized and complete biotic and abiotic factors. Among the biotic factors domestic and wild animals, birds, aquatic fauna, the world famous mangrove flora, halophytic algae, planktonic flora are worth mentioning. The saline silty clay soil, brackish water, surges from the Bay, stormy wind flow, tropical temperature limit with moderate rainfall, strong solar radiation and high humid condition are the major abiotic factors. A genuine understanding of their interaction should be a paramount importance for a true ecological study. For proper maintenance of the estuarine ecosystem and for prosperity, the environmentalists of both India and Bangladesh should work together to achieve the desired goal. The paper deals with the merit of the proposition.
