Results of studies on the effects of application of cowdung on the physico-chemical parameters of the nursery ponds are described. Cowdung was applied weekly to the experimental nursery ponds at Bhawal Fish Seed Farm, Gazipur, Bangladesh the rate of 2500 kg, 5000 kg and 10,000 kg per hectare for a period of 1/2 month. The results of the study indicated that cowdung treatments had significant effects on the water transparency, dissolved oxygen, carbondioxide, BOD, nitrate - nitrogen contents of the treated ponds. The pH, total hardness, ammonia nitrogen and phosphate - phosphorus of the water were not affected by the cowdung treatment.
