The effect of soil redox potentials (Eh) (-200, -100, 0, +100, and +200 mV) on the emission of N2O and N2 during denitrification of the Crowley (USA) silt loam soil suspension was studied under anaerobic laboratory conditions. The maximum N2 amount was determined at Eh of -200 mV to -100 mV. The maximum N2O was evolved at redox level of 0 mV where the high NO2-concentration signaled the retardation of denitrification. At Eh of +100 mV, the amount of gaseous losses (N2+N2O) decreased and the NH4+ increase signaled dissimilatory nitrate reduction. At Eh of +200 mV, the amount of evolved gases was minimum, the nitrification appeared.
