In field trials on the loamy degraded black soil on loess, lucerne was sown in the spring without cover crop. The incorporation of wheat straw in the soil had no effects on the lucerne dry-matter yield for three years. Deep loosening increased the lucerne yield by 0.765 t per ha for three years and higher levels of statistically significance. Liming increased the yield by 0.684 t per ha for three years and higher levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilization increased it by 0.361 t per ha; both these increases were statistically significant. Nitrogen fertilization before sowing increased the yield in the year of sowing significantly (by 0.416 t per ha) but the three-year yield was not influenced.
