Occurrence of feather mites on some domestic birds in the farm of faculty of agriculture at Giza [Egypt]

This investigation aimed to study mite species associated with feather of domestic fowl, Gallus domesticus, common turkey Meleagris gallopava and domestic duck Anas plathyrchos. Results recorded eight mite species of seven families belong to the suborders, Astigmata and Prostigmata. The acarid mites Leptosphera sp., Paralges sp. and Syringophilus sp. are ectoparasites on feather and recorded in large numbers. The other five species are predaceous and fungivorous mites.
