Two field experiments were conducted to find out the effect of plant density, N and P fertilizer on yield and chemical composition of safflower var. Giza 1. Yield components characters of safflower, namely, number of heads/plant, head diameter, number of seeds/ head, weight of 1000-seed and weight of seeds/plant were greatly effected by plant density and were inversely correlated with number of plants/fed. On the other hand, increasing plant population increased yields of seed, straw, biological and oil as well as protein per fed. Application of nitrogen and phosphorus significantly increased yield and yield component characters of safflower under this study. In addition, acid value and iodine value of oil increased with N and P application. The interaction effects were discussed.
