Guava seedlings were subjected to 12 different treatments which were the possible combinations between three levels of soil moisture (70, 50, 40% of field capacity) and four levels of soil salinity (control, 2000, 4000, and 6000 ppm). Cross sections of leaf samples taken 180 and 360 days after the onset of treatments indicated that decreasing soil moisture level apparently depressed number of cell layers within the upper epidermis, thickness of palisade tissue and leaf blade, axial and equatorial diameters of leaf midrib, number of xylem vessels per microscopic field in leaf midrib and diameter of xylem vessel. Contrarily, waterstress increased thickness of upper and lower epidermis.
