Assisting the return of the living environment after mining: an Australian perspective
1990
Bell, L.C. (Queensland Univ., Brisbane (Australia))
This paper discusses the need to reduce the environmental impact of mining, the limitations to achieving this objective and the approaches that can be used to assist the mined landscape to return to a biologically productive state. The examples cited are primarily based on Australian experience, but reference is also made to international literature which may be relevant to the rehabitation of disturbed land in New Zealand
