Bovine tuberculosis complicated by feral reservoir species: is there an answer?
1991
Morris, R.S. | Pfeiffer, D.U. (Massey Univ., Palmerston North (New Zealand))
Discusses the problem of the existence of wildlife reservoirs of tuberculosis infection which are self-maintaining and can continuously transfer infection to domestic livestock. In New Zealand the possum, Trichosurus vulpecula, is the most significant host for Tb. This paper goes through the points which need to be considered in obtaining sufficient epidemiological data to decide on valid control policies and discusses in principle the selection of control policies.
