Comparison of methods and rates of carbofuran application for the control of sweet potato weevils (Cylas formicarius Fabr.) [Philippines]

Field application of carbofuran (Furadan 3G) was better than dipping method based on infestations of sweet potato weevil on tubers, potato vines, number of tubers developed and weight of tubers. At 10-15 grams per hill applied in the field one month after planting, carbofuran effectively controlled sweet potato weevils on vines and tubers. The number of tubers produced per hill and the weight of tubers per treatment were higher with field application as compared to dipping method.
