Content of some forms of nitrogen, fibre, fat and ash in green fodder from spring mowing of indigenous varieties of white clover cultivated for seeds

The fodder obtained from spring mowing of white clover cultivated for seeds is characterized by high content of total nitrogen (4.15-4.45 per cent N) and great participation of albuminoid nitrogen. Albuminoid nitrogen made up 60-64.8 per cent of the total content of nitrogen in green fodder harvested in the second year after sowing, and 52-57.4 per cent in green fodder harvested in the first year after sowing. The yields of specific protein were within 0.30 and 0.50 t/ha and in general they were higher in green fodder harvested in the second year after sowing. These yield depended in a significant degree on the content and uptake of total nitrogen. The mean amount at crude fibre was in the investigated years 12.2-19.3 per cent, that of crude fat 2.56-5.15 per cent, and of ash 11.1-15.9 per cent. In the light of the results obtained no significant differences were found in the composition of the investigated components between the varieties but only between the years of investigation
