Effect of the seed sowing date, form and rate of nitrogen on yield of brussels sprouts

The results of the study proved that rates of urea had more detrimental effect on plant stand of brussels sprouts drilled to the open field than ammonium nitrate. No adverse effect was observed if slow released form of nitrogen was used. The maximum yield of sprouts was associated with application of 200 kg N/ha independently on the source of N. Nutritional status of plants supplied with slow released N form was lower in comparison with ammonium nitrate and urea. Nitrogen fertilization increased the total N content in sprouts but did not influence the nitrate accumulation
